Currently at work on the third and final book in the Ninth House/Alex Stern trilogy. (In our house we call it Tokyo Drift to keep me from blurting out the real title in an interview.) This novel will be headed your way in 2026—still waiting to hear from my publisher on date. I had hoped for spring, but we may be doomed to fall (insert Lucifer joke here). It depends on everything from when I get the book edited, to what kind of edition we put out, to production timelines and tariffs. I'm truly sorry for the wait, but I appreciate your patience. Here's a little teaser from the Gentleman Demon's first chapter...
When he had been a man only and not both man and monster, Darlington had understood his city, and the bad bargains it had made. He knew the changing shape of its harbor, the deep scars carved into its old neighborhoods by a flood of federal cash that had seemed inexhaustible—until the drought came. He’d loved this tidy square named for a Revolutionary War general, its steepled church, its row of brownstones with their welcoming stoops. He had marveled at the strangeness of New Haven that could take a pocket neighborhood nestled against the noise and fumes of a highway and make it so desirable. The man he had been noted these things. He considered the branches of the cherry trees, stark black bones that would soften with the flesh of pink flowers in the spring.
The demon thought only of bodies. Human hearts tucked safely into their houses. He could feel their longings—sharp spikes of ambition, the simple grind of appetite, lust like the heavy pull of a rip tide. Their greed was everywhere, a buffet of gluttony. He hungered after their hunger, and it was maddening.
Have a splendid weekend. See you on the other side.
I, like Darlington, am hungry for more.
This is the best Friday gift ever!! 🖤🖤🖤
